Learn how to upload and process documents in Osprai.
Supported formats

PDF is the primary format
PDFs get the most thorough parsing, including table extraction, image analysis, and drawing detection. For best results, upload specifications and datasheets as PDF.
How to upload
Navigate to Integrations in the sidebar
Click Upload Files on the File Upload card
Drag and drop your files, or click to browse
Wait for processing to complete. Track progress in Documents
What happens during processing
When you upload a document, Osprai runs a multi-stage pipeline:
- Parsing. Extracts raw text, tables, and visual content from the file
- Chunking. Breaks content into searchable segments with overlap for context preservation
- Embedding. Creates representations for semantic search
- Knowledge Graph extraction. Identifies entities (equipment, rooms, specs) and relationships, stored in the knowledge graph
KG extraction runs in the background
Your document is searchable as soon as embedding completes. Knowledge Graph extraction continues in the background and may take a few extra minutes for large documents.
Smart parsing
Osprai automatically detects document types and routes them to the best parser:
Technical specs, reports, and manuals with selectable text. Parsed for fast, accurate extraction.
Datasheets and brochures created in InDesign or Illustrator, where text is often embedded as images. Osprai detects these automatically (zero extractable characters) and routes them to AI-powered vision parsing for OCR-quality extraction.
Architectural plans, electrical schematics, and AV signal flow diagrams. Processed with AI-powered vision parsing to extract equipment labels, room names, cable runs, and spatial relationships.
Storage limits
Upload limits depend on your plan:
